Jaylen D. BerryJaylen D. Berry is a 2018 graduate of Wesleyan University, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Originally from the North End of Hartford, Jaylen’s family moved to Windsor when he was 7 years old. Growing up, Jaylen enjoyed participating in both athletics and academics. As a student-athlete at Windsor High School, Jaylen was a three-time all-academic team selection in both football and track, and a high honors student for his entire tenure at Windsor. He was nominated to the National Honor Society as a junior at Windsor; as a senior he was a 2013 Connecticut All-State football selection and graduated with honors with a 3.7 GPA.
At Wesleyan, Jaylen was a member of the football team, a Patricelli Fellow, and a Residential Life house manager. It was during his time at Wesleyan that Jaylen realized his desire to support young men and women of color. To become a catalyst for the success of his peers, Jaylen founded the “Jaylen D. Berry Scholarship” in 2016. This scholarship seeks to create social, political, and financial change by supporting young men and women from Connecticut who plan to utilize their education to foster positive change in the world. In 2017, the Scholarship expanded, becoming the Jaylen D. Berry Foundation. The Foundation seeks to create socio-economic change on a larger scale in Connecticut by offering annual scholarships, leading community development programs, and supporting individuals and families on the local level in order to evolve society. Currently, while running the Jaylen D. Berry Foundation as Executive Director, Jaylen is an Analyst at Goldman Sachs, in the NYC/NJ region. |
